INFORMIX TO PROVIDE INFORMIX-ONLINE DYNAMIC SERVER 7.1
FOR SCO OPENSERVER RELEASE 5

New York, NY (May 9, 1995) -- Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFMX),
the leader in parallel processing database technology, and SCO, today announced
that Informix will provide INFORMIX(R)-OnLine Dynamic Server(TM) version 7.1
for SCO OpenServer Release 5, SCO's next-generation Business Critical
Server.  Both products are designed to exploit the power of Symmetric
Multiprocessor (SMP) hardware by performing nearly all major processing
activities in parallel -- resulting in dramatic increases in performance,
availability and scalability.  OnLine Dynamic Server 7.1 for OpenServer
Release 5 is currently scheduled for availability during Q3, 1995.
"The combined offering of the industry leading parallel, scalable RDBMS
and the industry leading Intel Processor-based platform will provide our mutual
customers a superior environment to run their applications across the
enterprise," said Kathy Gogan, vice president, channels and partner
marketing at Informix.
Scott McGregor, senior vice president and general manager, server products,
said, "SCO and Informix have been strategic allies for many years, and we've
tightly integrated our products to ensure that our customers gain the
maximum benefit of both technologies."
OnLine Dynamic Server 7.1, based on Informix's Dynamic Scalable
Architecture(TM) (DSA) was designed to exploit the capabilities of SMP and
uniprocessor architectures to deliver breakthrough scalability,
manageability and performance.  The product is currently available on all
major UNIX(R) hardware platforms.
SCO Open Server Release 5 is the only Business Critical Server operating
system for the Intel platform that protects customers' legacy investments in
data, applications, networks, and hardware. Advanced reliability,
availability, and scalability features are now built-in, enabling businesses
of all sizes to combine the power and security of large-scale systems with
the exceptional price-performance value and flexibility of commodity server
hardware based on Intel microprocessors.
