col1 char (1),

PLEASE DO NOT POST HTML it more than doubles the required bandwidth and
most of use use newsreaders that do not understand HTML or MIME (which is
worse).

You have to define a column list for the temp table just like any other:

create temp table fred (one int, two char(20)) with no log;

Guys,
Why do you think so many people are posting HTML?  Do they even know? How
can the less computer-educated users know what form they are posting in?
Maybe if we point users to how they post plain text it would be more helpful
than just complaining about the MIME.
I am currently using Microsoft Outlook and I have a list box on the screen
showing the words "Plain Text".  The other options in that box are "Rich
Text" and "HTML".  I believe that by default it was set to HTML.
Maybe other users are like me and don't really know what form their mail is
sent in.

Malcolm

I - for one!  I'm not as internet aware as some of you.  But then I don't profess to be an internet specialist.  And who can keep up with all the developments, new methods of sending and receiving email and/or new.  Today I have discovered three completely different ways in which I can send emails from just one PC.  And each one is different.  Some save copies of what I've sent, some don't,  And some block any emails that have certain words in them while others don't

And as to whether they send MIME?

Hi,

I've been programming for over 20 years (Fortran, C, Pascal, Oracle,
Informix, dBase/foxPro, Unify, Java) and I didn't know that some mailers
(Microsoft Outlook was the example given) may post in HTML by default ....
I've never used Outlook ---- although I do think it's a bad idea for a
mailer to use HTML **by default**.....

>Well this was totally unknown to me... Have found out how to change it,

seems like it to me . . . .

1. create temp table: -261 Cannot create file for table - Not owner

After working happily for many years, part of an application started
failing with the following messages:
Program stopped at "temp_sth.4gl", line number 19.
   SQL statement error number -261.
Cannot create file for table (dirwatch.temp_sth).
   SYSTEM error number -1.
   Not owner

The relevant part of temp_sth.4gl is
   CREATE TEMP TABLE temp_asset
   (
   sth_asset_ref  CHAR(20)
   )

Software is I4GL 4.20 RDS and SE 5.10 on SCO OSR 505

The /tmp filesystem is not full up and setting DBTEMP doesn't help.
permissions on /tmp are normal. The code works OK on another OSR 505 system.

Permanent tables can be created and dropped OK

Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this problem?

2. SQL Perf Counters don't appear

3. Difference between create table #temp and ##temp ?

4. Distribution of New SQL ODBC drivers for SQL 7.0

5. Create table temp or select into temp.

6. Transaction log

7. temp table with no log is LOGGING!

8. WAREZ_CDS

9. Difference btwn CREATE VIEW and CREATE TABLE TEMP

10. Create View vs. Create Table Temp

11. create a temp table with an existing table stucture

12. create a temp table based on existing table

13. How do I create a temp table to join with another table
