Hi,

We are running 4.9.2 on a Sparc 1000 Solaris 2.2. Once in a while the server
will "hang" with the error shown in the errorlog as:

00: 93/12/30 14:34:45.40 kernel: dstartio: I/O request repeatedly
delayed; block number: 3124, vdn: 0
01: 93/12/30 14:34:48.49 kernel: dstartio: I/O request repeatedly
delayed; block number: 3122, vdn: 0

We have to restart the server when we see them.

We are not running any dump nor is there many processes (<50 ?). Can someone
please help us on this problem? Any tips/hints/solutions will be greatly
appreciated.

We have experienced the same problem here on Sparc 10 running Sybase 4.9.1 and Sun OS 4.1.3.
It turns out that we neglected to install Sun OS patch #100743. Once we did that, our problem
was resolved. I haven't checked, but perhaps there is an equivalent patch for Solaris that will
help.
