I continue to hear from of our Mgt teams that
we are going to migrate our Application/Database server from
SunOS to the Solaris operating system, and SQL Server 10.0.2 to System 11.
This server contains multiple DBMS products, Oracle, Informix and Sybase
(SQL and OPEN servers) it also runs as host for many X applications. Some of th
ese
applications are also located on other SunOS machines that are not going to Sola
ris.
Many of the statements I hear, It should be a fairly simple task. Yea Right.
Something doesn't sound right to me. I have been involved in other migrations b
ut nothing
like this.
I would appreciate any comments about this subject. Please remember I am only
