Major Utility Company
Worked within a team doing analysis, design and supervising 2 developers
to implement Strategic Billing Applications. The system was developed
using Powerbuilder (v. 4.0) to access data in Oracle (v. 7.2) and from
an IBM mainframe. Other responsibilities in this project include PVCS
administrator. Worked closely with other team members in implementing an
Electronic Management System application. The module was coded using
application partitioning, object oriented techniques, Powerbuilder (v.
4.0), Oracle (v. 7.2) and the companys framework. This module accessed
approximately 40 tables.
Also worked at improving performance of reports for Utilitys timesheet
application, reducing response time from 30 minutes to 8 seconds. This
application is used by over 5,000 employees. Involved in a team
responsible for migrating the Outage Management module from FoxPro to
Powerbuilder (4.0). This utility provides electricity and related
services to over 2.4 million customers.
August 1993 - March 1996
Project Leader/DBA
Capital Markets Exchange
Responsible for analysis, design, and implementation of all in-house
systems for capital and money market operations. These applications were
the core software products of the business accessing over 100 tables
through the use of about 250 data windows where the front end was
written in Powerbuilder ( v. 3.0/4.0). and the back end being Sybase.
This system was designed using object oriented techniques to fully
exploit the enhanced features of Powerbuilder. Supervised three
developers throughout the entire life cycles of each project. Trained
end user personnel to use each system. Involved in migrating an IBM/360
centralized system to client-server. Performed all Sybase DBA functions
such as database installation, role creation, performance tuning,
security implementation and backup/recovery procedures.
Other responsibilities included:
- Coordinating the creating and maintaining the corporate framework
- Maintaining quality control of all front-end applications
- Maintaining quality control for back-end stored procedures
