gkolten> Hi all,
gkolten> does anyone know why "Checks Returning Data" is between 1% and 4%.
gkolten> This sounds very low. Is it telling me that my disks are very slow ?
gkolten> "polling interval" is set to 30

That does sound really low...  what does sar (or any other
O/S monitoring tool) tell you wrt your disks?

1. Database locking and checking "dirty" data

How do I check that data I selected has not been modified before an update?
I've heard ADO1.5/2.0 provides some nice features for checking dirty data
but I can't
find them.

I'm writing an application using Visual Interdev 6.0 and SQL Server 6.5.
User A and user B read the same record using a select.
User A then updates the record.
How do I prevent user B from overwriting the updates made by User A?

I would appreciate any tips, pointers, etc.
