Do I need a hint that "X" mean close?  They pop up before
you can click now.  It's very distracting to work when everything
I touch gives me a user-friendly hint.  Can this be adjusted?

There are, after all, SOME useful hints in various programs. but
win 98 went TOO FAR here.  Perhaps is the DELAY could be
adjusted...???

If you think they interfere and block your vision you are wrong.

The nice thing about them is as soon as you see the "flash" you can click.
At high resolution the X, as well as other icons is quite small and this is
a great enhancement.

The mere fact that my eyesight is less than it used to be is merely an
irrelevant issue.<g>

You should be able to use TweakUI. On the general tab scroll down to
'Mouse Hot Tracking Effects' and make sure it is not checked. It may
take a restart to be effective (it's been so long I can't remember).

Just give me the option of not being so user friendly.

I think that all the "enhancements" to Win98 go
overboard.  Really.  Not every one is a first time
user strugling with a mouse.

I click faster than I can see the flash.  I certainly hope that
these don't bleed into the NT Workstation!

Mine is doing the same!  But really folks. This is just beginning

If you right click the desktop, select properties>web>folder
options>yes>view
you can uncheck the popup option to disable these annoying little critters.

To set this option, make sure you install the Win98 version of TweakUI
that's on the CD.
