Windows 98 Dial Up Networking Question

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Connections tab | Settings button and make
sure "Disconnect when connection ..." is checked.

If that doesn't help, try letting IE's dialer connect for you - in other
words, don't use DUN yourself to connect before launching IE.

Windows 98 Dial Up Networking Question

You forgot to say which browser you are using.  You also didn't mention if
it happened when you were online or off.  Ok, I'll guess.  If it is Internet
Explorer 5 and it happens when you are online, then go to Internet Explorer,
Tools, Internet Options.  Click on the Connections tab.  Click on the
Connection you were using.

Click the Settings button.

Click the *lower* Advanced button.

Uncheck 'Disconnect When Connection may no longer be needed'

But don't do what one writer did.  He forgot he was still online when he
closed his browser and left himself online all day.

If your bottom Advanced button is grayed out, then your ISP has put in their
own connection software and overridden your options.  If you use AOL, tough
cheese!  You do what they say, not what you want!  Otherwise, you may be
able to get away with making your own DUN connection.  You may be able to
adapt the instructions on my website but keep your own connection until you
are sure it works properly for you.

1. Windows 2000 / Windows 98 Network question

Hello All,

I am running Sygate on a Windows 2000 system connected to a cable modem.
When I try to connect from my Windows 98 system to use the printer, it says
I must supply a password to connect to \\WINDOWS2000SYSTEM\HP DeskJet
690C\IPC$

The user on the 98 machine is NOT on the 2000 machine.  I get the same
prompt for a password if I try to access the files on the 2000 box that are
being shared.  Thanks for any help.
