here's my problem: windows 98 loads fine from a cold boot.  however, when i
have to perform a restart like after i install software, my computer will
hang with the compaq logo on the screen.  then i have to power it down and
power it back up to load windows.  does anyone have any ideas why this is
happening?  tia

1. Win2K Restart Problem

I am running a Dell P3. I just installed Win2k on my computer, and it
was working great. Then all of a sudden it began to restart on its own
every once in a while, especially when I am downloading files off of
IRC. I just flashed my BIOS and updated the CD rom firmware, but I am
perplexed as to the cause of this problem. This never happened with 98,
but 2000 ran pefectly fine for a while and then all of a sudden bam!
And AV doesn't pick up anything... if someone could lend me a thought,
please!

Thanks,

Joe
