ORA-12612 Error (Please Help)

ORA-12612 Error (Please Help)

We are using a VB application via ODBC to query/return data from an Oracle
7.3 database.  Network is NT, Oracle is on RISC6000, application is running
under NT 4.5 (Server).  The following error is routinely being returned by
Oracle to the application yet "sniffing" has not indicated anything
conclusive regarding the cause.

FATAL Error #  40002: S1000: [Oracle][ODBC Oracle Driver][Oracle
OCI]ORA-12612: Message 12612 not found;  product=RDBMS; facility=ORA.

This error indicates that the TNS connection is busy yet the application is
running at off-hours and is only process running against the particular
database instance at this time.  

Anyone having seen this error in their applications is requested to
respond.  MetaLink data is very inconclusive.

Jerry;

I have the same problem I just posted a request for help in
comp.databases.oracle.tools.  I'm usinf a different ODBC driver but
experiencing the same problem.

1. ORA-12612 TNS:connection is busy

Has anyone ever had trouble with the oracle error 12612. The description is
included below. I'm having this problem intermittently in my application
and its really giving me a pain. If you have any ideas on how to solve this

ps. I phoned oracle about this and they had a call regarding this error
with PowerBuilder. They said it was solved with a  PB upgrade but they
couldn't tell which version. In any case this hasn't worked for me.

 Cause:
        Attempted operation failed because it conflicts with an on-going
action or status of the connection.

 Action:
        Not normally visible to user. For further details, turn on tracing
and reexecute the operation. If error persists, contact Worldwide  Customer
Support.
