Requisition Number: STARS-076 Software Systems Engineer - Lead (Staff
Specialist) Top level technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases
of software systems programming. Acts independently under general direction.
Provides technical consulting on complex projects. Formulates/defines
specifications for complex operating software programming applications or
modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and
utilities from the manufacturer. Responsible for program design, coding,
testing, debugging and documentation. Usually responsible for applications
dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file
maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting
and advanced mathematical/ scientific software packages. Has full technical
knowledge of all phases of software systems programming applications. May have
duties instructing, directing and checking the work of other software systems
programming personnel. May have quality assurance review and/or new and
existing software product evaluation responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum
12 years as a software development manager. Experience in mainframe and
client/server environments. Knowledge of CASE tools and OO programming
techniques. Knowledge of Oracle SQL. Knowledge of structured software life
cycle development techniques. Knowledge of Oracle v 7.3. Experience w/UNIX and
Windows. Experience coordinating SW development IV&V activities. Understanding
of Y2K remediation issues. SW systems design expert. Understanding of the SEI
Capability Maturity model
