Invoking a unix programme from Oracle

Is there any easy way to invoke a Unix programme from Oracle, e.g.
to invoke sendmail?

Thanks,

Nils

It takes a bit more than dbms_pipe, a program (C, Fortran, COBOL, ...)
needs to be writen using Pro*(C, Fortran, COBOL, ...) or OCI needs to be
writen that will monitor the dbms_pipe and submit the UNIX program.  It is
a fairly straight forward process.  There are sample programs with the
Pro*(whatever) install.
