Personal Oracle 7 - Can we create new database

Post by Gang » Sat, 16 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi All,

Is it possible to create a new database using Personal Oracle 7. If
possible, we would like to create a new database and deploy it with our
application. How many databases can Personal Oracle 7 handle? If it can
not handle more than one database, is it possible to trash the "Local
database" and create a new database.

If it is possible to create new database, Please let me know how to
create new database and deploy it. Is there any documentation specific
to Personal Oracle 7 that says anything about creating a new database
using Personal Oracle 7.

Thanks,
Ganga

You can create new databases with PO7.  I wrote a script that created
a new database and tablespaces, then ran it from SQL*DBA.  The easiest
thing to do is to modify the BUILD_DB.SQL script that comes with PO7.

Drop me a line if you have any specific questions.

If you've running on Win95 (not sure about NT) and didn't install a starter
database you'll need to create a password file before you can successfully
start Server Manager. You can do this with the ORAPWD7x utility - there's a
tiny section on this in the on-line help.

1. help creating new database w/ demo version of personal oracle for win 95

I wrote a database for use within my business in Msoft Access. As the database
application has grown, I see a need for a better and more robust product and
obtained an evaluation copy of Oracle. After fooling around with the example
database, I tried to create a new one of my own and could not find a prompt
for this action anywhere. I printed off most of the documentation and could
find no help there either.

Is it possible to create a new database with the evaluation copy and how do
you do this (if it is possible).

Thanks in advance.
