Oracle 9i Application Server Installation Problem

Oracle 9i Application Server Installation Problem

Post by GEORGE LIOUDAKI » Sun, 27 Oct 2002 06:34:07

Hi...
Oracle 9i DB is installed on my machine (Win2k)...
We tried yesterday to install Oracle9iAS Web Cache too. The problem was that
there was no Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installed. So, a few steps later, we
aborted installation, deinstalled what we had done so far, deleted the
Ora9ias_home directory, and installed Oracle9iAS Infrastructure on another
PC on the LAN. Trying today to install web cache, we received, almost
immediately, the following (psychedelic) message:
"All Oracle9iAS installations on a host must be installed by the same
operating system user. The initial Oracle9iAS installation located at
c:\Ora9ias was installed by a different operating system user. Please, exit
this install, log in as the user who installed the initial Oracle9iAS
installation, and restart the install."
Of course, we had logged in as the same user...

Thanx in advance...

As a general rule you have to prepare a 'clean' machine before you
attempt a new install after a failed install. 'Clean' refers to
'clean of the software you attempted to install', of course.

You need to clean it out the registry too.

So much easier on Linux. No Registry.

So sorry,

george

resolved a similar problem by removing the entry for the following registry items.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\em_loc
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\vobhome2.o

obvious health warning attached.

1. Installation of Oracle 9i Application Server

Hi!
I have been working in school with a installation of oracle 9i
application server.. is hard work.. and we get no help from the
teachers..
So we tried to install the server on a Pentium 4.. which of course
didnt work..the disk1\setup.exe wouldnt run ..we found here on the
list a cure for that.. You should move the cd content to the harddisc
and change the file symcjit.dll to symsjit.old.. now it worked the
installation was successful, but some optional configuration tools
failed .. (think we did wrong with the TNS string and the portal DAD
name.. or something.. we also couldnt see the difference between
origin database and the database..) well we continued anyway.. next
step was to install the portal-to-go which wouldnt work either from
the disc nor the hardisc with the changed filename.. so does anyone
know if there is some more changes u have to do to get it to work?
Is the same problem.. u click on the setup file.. it feels like its
going to start.. and then nothing happens..
I would be greatful if someone had some kind of help to give

/Susanna
