Riaz,

Discoverer 3.0 is a front-end tool from Oracle for doing
On-Line Analytic Processing (OLAP) on Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
I believe that it requires a star schema.

Are you building a DW or a DM and in need of an OLAP front-end?

Discoverer 3.0 ?

Discoverer/2000 3.0 is the Oracle ROLAP-Tool. It's new on the market.
This is the successor of Discoverer/2000 Browser 2.x and Data Query -
now an integrated product to do the report and analysis up on a Data
Warehouse DB. Discoverer 3.0 consist of the Administration Edition,
the User Edition and the End User Layer to hide the complexity of the
DB. Take a look at Oracle's Web Site. I think there is some stuff.
There is also a trial version on the ftp-server of Oracle.

it is the next version of Discoverer 2000 ( or Browser V2)
An end user query tool. V2 is simple but powerful. V3 is a completely
different product from the end user perspective, that from the demo i
saw should eclipse the more comple Oracle Express product.

This is simply the next version of Oracle Browser 2.0 and Data Query
roled into one.

Discoverer 3.0 ?

The following is a bit of an oversimplification. Discoverer V3 is a
total new rewrite. It is 32 bit only and is really only a Data Query
replacement. It would compete directly with Business Objects. In my
opinion it is a peer to V4 of that product, each having their own
advantages and disadvantages.

My understanding of Browswer is that it has bowed out of the end-user
market (where I don't think it was much of a hit) and exists only in
development environments. My further understanding is that its
technology (i.e. the UI) will be subsumed into the other products.

1. Discoverer 3.0 - Query from two folders -bad summing

Good noon!
I have principial problem with creating Query for Discoverer 3.0.8
Imagine this situation, please:
There are two folders defined in EUL
Name of folder       Items that folder contain
-----------------------------------------------
Projekt            PROJNR, CUSTOMER, KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2
Serie              PROJNR, SERIENR

Between these folder is defined the Join (Projekt is master, Serie is
detail).

Now I create Query in User edition, that contains PROJNR, CUSTOMER,
KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2 from Projekt folder. I add grouping by CUSTOMER and
partial SUM of KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2 per CUSTOMER.

Now I want to this Query add item SERIENR from Serie folder (only for
information purpose), but this caused multiplication (due multiple
SERIENR per PROJNR) of items KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2 and bad Summing these
items per item CUSTOMER.

I try remove multiplication by adding grouping of item KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2,
but SUM(KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2) is still the same.

There is some (regular?) method how get SUM(KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2) per
CUSTOMER including only once KOSTEN1, KOSTEN2 per PROJNR.
For example are necessary some changes in EUL? Or direct in User
Edition?

        Thank You, Jan Januska
