Description:   Major Duties:

- Support Oracle Applications 10.7 and 11i implementations for 900+ concurrent users
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other DBAs in the areas of disaster recovery, backup and recovery, performance tuning, capacity planning, SQL tuning, and database security
- Develop and implement database administration standards, security integrity controls, methodologies, policies, and procedures pertaining to database maintenance and configuration
- Tune SQL queries using standard Oracle tools such as explain plans and tkprof
- Apply Oracle technology performance tuning techniques to optimize application performance
- Design and implement high availability database solutions, as necessary
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle server software, applications and related products
- Research and evaluate new Oracle features and third party tools and techniques
- Perform all forms of database monitoring, maintenance and administrative activities proactively
- Research and resolve complex technical issues, communicating clearly and effectively with vendors and other technical resources as necessary
- Automate routine maintenance tasks as appropriate utilizing shell scripting and other techniques
- Identify opportunities for effectively satisfying business needs through automation, benchmarking and utilization of available technologies, use experience and analysis to develop creative and innovative solutions
- Provide on call coverage to support production database problem determination/resolution

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / related discipline or equivalent work experience
- Must have Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i OCP is desired
- Must have minimum 5 years continuous, progressive experience as an Oracle DBA
- Must have minimum 1 year experience within the role of Senior Oracle DBA
- Must have experience with Oracle version 9i and Oracle Applications 11i (Financials)
- Must have experience supporting Oracle databases on Sun Solaris platform
- Knowledge of Oracle Internals is desired
- Knowledge of PL/SQL language is desired
- Experience with/exposure to competitive RDBMS platforms, including DB2, is desirable
- Strong experience with disk layout and capacity planning, migrations and upgrades, performance tuning of database and application, including STATSPACK, and tuning large complex SQL queries.
- Must be able to lead, mentor and work cohesively in a small, close-knit team environment
- Outstanding time management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills are required
- Advanced knowledge of administration tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager or Quest products
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time, in a fast paced office environment handling multiple demands
- Must have experience with implementing Oracle8i/9i new features, disaster-recovery techniques, RMAN, implementing and maintaining high availability solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, professional, and a team player
