MBF to IEEE with VB 4.0 32bit/VB 5.0

MBF to IEEE with VB 4.0 32bit/VB 5.0

Post by Paolo Pialors » Sat, 30 Aug 1997 04:00:00

I need to read some GWBasic random files with a vb4.0/vb5.0 program but I
have some problems with long/integer numbers.
I know that this is a problem of conversion from MBF to IEEE and I've seen
that there's a DLL for this purpose but it's a 16 bit DLL that doesn't work
in 32bit VB 4.0
I attached the source code of the DLL so if someone wants to help me ...
Thanks,
                                        PAOLO.

begin 600 Mbf2ieee.c
<encoded_portion_removed>
end

For call a 16 bit DLL from VB4.0 in 32 bit look the article Q141939.
Bye, Giovanni.

I know this article but using a 16 bit OLE Server from a 32 Bit software
the execution time (for reading 26000 records) moves from 11 seconds (16
bit software calling a 16 bit DLL ) to 10 minutes (32 bit software calling
a 16 Bit OLE Server) :-( !
Have you any different idea ?
Thanks anyway,
                                                        PAOLO.

1. Converting from QB MBF to VB IEEE format

Hi,

I'm trying to convert data from a basic program using MBF numbers to
VB IEEE formatted numbers, has anyone any suggestions (apart from
making a DOS program to convert the data then running a VB program)
