70 seconde rule

70 seconde rule

Just curious about this.
In visual basic I open an ADO connection to SQL Server and
leave it open.
I then go on to open a 2nd ADO connection. After a very
quick grabbing of a database record I close the 2nd ADO
connection.
However, perusing SQL Profiler I notice that the 2nd
connection remains open for 70 seconds before
disconnecting from SQL Server.
If I close the 1st ADO connection prior to 70 seconds, the
2nd closes automatically.
Any explanation for this. Certainly, you can ignore this
since it isn't that important. But if you feel inclined, I
would appreciate any input.
Thank you.
