VB 4.0 EE and Oracle

Post by Dan Gustafss » Thu, 19 Sep 1996 04:00:00

Hello

I'm starting to develop a C/S app. I'm using VB4.0 EE and Oracle 7.2
Database, I would like to use ODBC API, to make it more generic. I'm using
the INTERSOLV 32 bit oracle driver from the WIN32 SDK. I'm having alot of
problems just connecting to the database. I must be missing something or do
I need to have Oracle SQL*Net running as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dan, you already figured it out.  You *do* have to install SQL*Net to
use Intersolv's ODBC driver.  Or Visigenic's...  Or OpenLink's... Or
Oracle's, for that matter.

Yes, you do need SQL*Net running.
I have also been involved with VB4EE and Oracle 7.2. We are using the
RDO object to return data 'cause it is alot faster than using JET/DAO.
