Problem with Crystal Report 4.5 32bit

Post by Petter Gr » Sat, 09 Dec 1995 04:00:00

I installed Crystal Report 4.5 32 bit version today. In a couple of
hour it caused VB numerous times. It seemed it crashed no matter what
I did. It even crashed when I added the ocx to an entirely new product
from the menu (Custom Controls...). Has anyone experienced this kind
of problem?

Solved it. The Setup refused to overwrite some installed dlls used by
the previously installed Crystal Reports ver 3.0.

If you installed Crystal into the VB40/Reports directory, you will
experience some problems.  Don't do it.  Let Crystal install itself
to the default directory (usually CRW) and things should go alright.

Check that you aren't having mixups with dll versions.  That's a source
of lots of confusion.  I also know that for some reason, sometimes the
OCX that ships with Crystal 4.5 does not replace the version of the OCX
that comes with VB4.  You can get it a couple of ways.  Copy it off the
disks or CD into a temp directory, then hit it with the DOS expand utility
and then copy it to the windows/system directory.  Another way is to copy
it from the CRW/WKCSETUP dirctory.  You'll get this directory when you
install Crystal and answer yes to the prompt about using Crystal on
other stations on the network.

One last thing I can think of could be a 16 bit vs 32 bit mixup.  Make
sure you aren't trying to use the 16 bit OCX when you really meant to
use the 32 bit one.

1. Problem with nested 32bit dll's and 32bit forms 4.5

Hi there,

I am experiencing a weird problem with oracle forms 4.5 32bits version. What I
do is use the FFI package to call upon one of our own dll's (a workflow api)
this is a 32bit dll with two other dll's underneath it, nested sort of speak.
I have used FFI before to call a single dll wich did not cause any problems
what so ever. But with the nested dll's, I do load the main dll which
basically goes ok. But the nested dll's under there do not get loaded ?? The
conlusion is my interfacing is not working. I have submitted this to oracle,
but no answer there. When I call our dll from vb4 32bit or vc++ there is
absolutely no problem arising and everything is working fine, as it is the
operating system which actualy loads up these nested dll's just fine.

The question is has anybody had a similar experience using nested dll's from
oracle forms 4.5 32bits and FFI.?? If someone has, how did you get around it??
I have tried to manually load the underlying dll's, but that did not work
either.

Thanks upfront,
