Connectivity method - what is BEST

Post by KKinse » Wed, 09 May 2001 05:06:03

I have read several posts discussing connectivity methods and inquiries of
which is best.  I am still inconclusive on an answer.  I'll be developing
with Visual C++ with SQL Server 2000 as the back-end.  I am very new to C++,
and I would appreciate any advice/suggestions/comments on connectivity
methods and what is best (ODBC, ADO, OLE DB, anything else?).

Thank you in advance!!

Hi,

I have had great success with MFC ODBC... especially with SQL Server and
stored procedures.

Scott!

Connectivity method - what is BEST

When I started, I was leaning toward ODBC as the best but after talking with some
people at work and reading more on Visual Studio, I realized the Microsoft wants
to get people on ADO. I am sure that ODBC won't disappear any time soon but it
looks to me like the trend at Microsoft is to push support for ADO, while trying
to allow other technologies fall by the wayside.
