Looking for... "TParadoxTable," list of VCL components

Looking for...

(1)  A "TParadoxTable" component that works like TTable except that it "knows"
the table being referenced is Paradox.  In other words, let me lock the table,
pack it, etc. without digging out (or buying) a BDE reference manual.

(2)  A "TQuery" component that supports QBE queries.

(3)  And...  a fairly-complete list of [Web-site references to] sources of VCL
components.  A catalog I can order from or download from, as it were.

Looking for... "TParadoxTable," list of VCL components

Post by ShdwMs » Wed, 16 Aug 1995 04:00:00

I was at the Borland Conference last week and purchased the Light Lib Images
Pro for Windows, by DFL.  Using this VCL to work with regular BMP's, ect. is
pretty easy, however, this component also allows you to look at images in a
database.  When I hook it into the datasource and the field, everything else
works great, except this component.  It will not view any of the blob images,
even though it is supposed to.

What I was wondering, has anyone worked with this?  And if so, have they used
it in a database?  If so, please let me know how you were able to pull up one
of the images.    Using DBImage, I have no problem moving through a series of
images, however, with this, I cannot move to the first one.

Thanks,

Jeff

Can't help you here...

Definitely one out there, try the Web sites; I have it somewhere if you
can't and could e-mail--it works pretty well...

try...

BI, Delphi := http://www.borland.com/Product/Lang/Delphi/Delphi.html
Delphi Connection := http://www.pennant.com/delphi.html

between the two, you'll find enough links to get you going (and TQBE,
which is the pdox QBE VCL you might want to check out is one of them--I
believe...). Hope it helps.

1. "Directory is busy" BDE/VCL error

I just started getting a new error message that strikes during start up
when my app executes a Session.IsAlias method: "Directory is busy". I
suspect it was caused by my setting a Session.PrivateDir value. The error
seems to occur sometimes when you are using DB explorer, or launch another
instance of the app.

But when I don't set that value, I get all kinds of Delxx.xx files (from
cached updates) appearing in my app directory, which I especially don't
want to be created on the server when the app is run over the network. When
I set the PrivateDir value, the files started appearing in the (temp)
directory I set. But now, it seems that setting that directory has caused
problems.

Any comments or suggestions?

(The problem occurs using both Interbase and MSSQL).
