!Help needed linking to Clipper-indexed DBase tables

Post by Richard Sutcliff » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

I'm trying to link a D3 app to a set of large DBase tables which make use
of Clipper indices.

However whichever driver I use to access the tables (either the BDE
standard (DBASE) driver or the ODBC Microsoft dBase Driver), the results
are sooo sloooooow that ordinary frequent use is totally unfeasible.

Does anyone know of a DBase driver that can handle Clipper indices?

Try Apollo

Try Advantage Database at www.advantagedatabase.com

Thanks for the advice.  Unfortunately at this time I am not allowed to use
Apollo or another similar BDE replacement, so I'm trying the InterSolv ODBC
drivers (with little success...)

I tried InterSolv's ODBC drivers (available as 30 day trial version,
comes on CD with documentation). Even 150 MB files with 30+ MB index
(NTX) files could be accessed without problems (SQL queries, using
TQuery and displaying the result data set in a DBGrid). As far as i
have seen, M$ only supports NDX indices.

Use Apollo, buy Successware, it does the job nicely, and you don't have to
distribute the BDE with it, just 2 little Dll's
