connect to Informix Client SDK JDBC, Solaris 251 SPARC

Post by Burhman Gate » Tue, 30 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I have

Informix 7.1x SE
Solaris 2.5.1 on SPARC
latest Client SDK
JDK 1.1.6

I'm having trouble making a connection.
Can you point me to documentation?

I can run an applet
I can get to existing DB directly (just not through JDBC)

Classpath includes informix.jar
LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes all the shared libraries.

Error given is
22% java ExecuteSQL -d informix.api.jdbc.JDBCDriver

jdbc:informix-api-direct:database=/fullpath/dbname
informix.api.jdbc.JDBCException: XIX000:-329:Database not found or no
system permission.
 SQL State: null

I tried running jdbc.sql
There were syntax errors in it.  I'm not sure from the documentation
whether I'm supposed to
run it on each DB.

Has anyone had similar problems?
Thanks.

Yes.  I found a solution.  I quit using Informix and began using
PostgreSQL.
I found that support is easier to come by.

Hi,

I think I'm getting the same error message as you posted to
comp.databases.informix namely,

SQLException weblogic.jdbc.informix4.InformixException: Informix error:
-329
minor code=[0] [Error setting database to intranet] See Informix error
codes for
explanation

I'm using a pure Java JDBC type 4 driver (beta from weblogic). I have a
feeling
it's got something to do with the informix permissions, did you ever
find a
solution to the problem?

Thanks

Bren

Burham's snide remarks aside.  The SQL error -329 indicates that the
database will not permit you to connect to it or that the database does
not exist.  Assuming you know the name of your database, you must have
the DBA or database owner GRANT CONNECT TO <jdbc_use_name or PUBLIC>;
so that you will have permissions on the database.  It is that simple!
