Unable to start mail session ???

Post by Todd Beaulie » Thu, 24 May 2001 07:16:23

I have the email profile set up and I can start/stop/test the SQLMail
service w/o problem. I can send email thru xp_sendmail. I only found this
error by chance, when I glanced at the SQL Server Agent Log.

[260] Unable to start mail session (reason: Unable to logon (reason:
MapiLogonEx Failed due to MAPI error 87: Invalid parameter); check the mail
profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account)

Todd, SQL Server Agent has separate mail settings (for some reason).
xp_sendmail uses settings from SQLMail.
If you use mail notifications for job completion/failure, you have to set up
mail profile for the SQL Server Agent as well. See SQL Server Agent
properties.
