Problem accessing SQL Server database through ADSL

Problem accessing SQL Server database through ADSL

Hi,

I sorry for posting somewhat unrelated message but I am getting a little
desperate and hoping someone knows how to resolve this problem.

When I am connected to the Internet through ADSL I have a problem with
accessing my SQL 7 database located on a remote NT 4 Server computer .  This
is strange because if I connect to the Internet via cable modem (from the
same client computer) everything works fine.

I am experiencing the same problem wether I try connecting by creating an
ODBC connection or directly through Enterprise Manager).  Cable access works
fine.  I spoke to several friends who also use ADSL and asked them to log on
to the database on the same remote computer.  They were also unsuccessful.
All of us are able to ping the computer.

Have you experienced something similar? What can I do to solve this issue?

I appreciate your feedback

Regards,
Branko

1. SQL Server connection problems over ADSL

I have an Access .adp application which connects over VPN
to a SQL Server version 7.0 using OLE DB.  It has been
running successfully over modem and broadband
connections.  I recently installed BellSouth ADSL and in
attempting to run my application have found the
following:  I am able to view tables and edit information
directly from the .adp database window, I am able to run
portions of the program which involve viewing records, but
when I try to run portions of the program which require a
command.execute, I get a timeout and a General Network
Error, and have to re-establish connection.  I have also
experimented in a ODBC environment and have found similar
inconsistencies - I can connect and view data, perform
simple updates and inserts, but more complicated functions
cause General Network Errors.  Could this be due to the
asynchronous nature of my connection?
