sending long messages w/ SQL-Mail?

Post by willia » Thu, 02 Sep 1999 04:00:00

now that i've gotten the SQL-mail working, i've found i'm limited to < 255
chars per message.  ok.  i found a neat work-around, but it doesn't seem to
be working.

here is my test stored procedure (the junk strings would be replaced later
by preset text messages):
-------------------------------------------
create procedure x_longmail
as

char(13) +'ooooooooo6ooooooooo7ooooooooo8ooooooooo9oooooooooX'

char(13) +'ooooooooo6ooooooooo7ooooooooo8ooooooooo9oooooooooX'

char(13) +'ooooooooo6ooooooooo7ooooooooo8ooooooooo9oooooooooX'

char(13) +'ooooooooo6ooooooooo7ooooooooo8ooooooooo9oooooooooX'

create table ##texttab (c1 text)

exec master..xp_sendmail

drop table ##texttab

return (0)
-------------------------------------------
it sounds entirely plausible (i found the code in reference file re:
xp_sendmail), and it mostly works.  mostly.  here is the results when i run
the SP:
-------------------------------------------
ooooooooo1ooooooooo2ooooooooo3ooooooooo4ooooooooo5
ooooooooo6ooooooooo7oooooooo
 o8ooooooooo9oooooooooX
ooooooooo1ooooooooo2ooooooooo3ooooooooo4oooooooo
 o5
ooooooooo6ooooooooo7ooooooooo8ooooooooo9oooooooooX
ooooooooo1ooooooo
 oo2ooooooooo3ooooooooo4ooooooooo5
-------------------------------------------
it broke lines in strange places, added tabs, and still cut off at the 255
chars limit.

any ideas on how to fix this or a better workaround?  thanks in advance!
