"Invalid Cursor State" errors when creating tables in SQL7 Enterprise Manager

Post by Mark Johnsto » Sat, 22 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I am a newbie setting up some Databases on our SQL7 server (Small
Business Version).  If I use the SQL Query Analyzer to create a table
in a database, it works, but I get an error in the result window that
says: "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server] Driver not capable."
If I go to the SQL Enterprise Manager, click on my database, click on
tables, then "New Table", I do not get any sort of "Create Table"
wizard, rather an alert window pops up that says "An unexpected error
occurred during the operation. [Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState:
24000)] - Invalid Cursor State."
I have looked at the Properties of the database in question, and it's
set to autogrow with unrestricted file growth.  There is about 900
Mbytes of free space on the drive containing the database files and
all of the SQL server databases.
As a side note, it seems interesting to me that when I click on a
database in Enterprise Manager, the summary page that's displayed in
the right-hand pane never shows any "Size:" or "Space Available:"
information for any of the databases.  If I click on the hyperlink
that says "Space Allocated" above that summary info, an exception
occurs and I get prompted for the de*.
Can anyone suggest some places to look for rememdies to these issues?
Thanks!

"Invalid Cursor State" errors when creating tables in SQL7 Enterprise ManagerSounds like you just have a bad installation.  Has it ever worked? If not you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling.

1. SQL 7.0 error "Invalid Cursor State"

HI,

I'm developing a DB with SQL 7.0  I've created a table with an integer
field.  Every record has 0 in this field.  I've changed my mind and would
like to change the data type to decimal.  When I attempt to make this
change, I get the "Invalid Cursor State" error.  I've tried deleting the
field and recreating it, with the same result.  The DB and logs are well
below their maximum size limits.

What's going on? Do I need to delete the whole table and re-create it?

TIA,

Ron Walters
