SQL Server 7.0 Connection Problems (Windows 2000)

Post by David Whit » Sat, 12 May 2001 18:41:53

Hi,

I have a Windows NT 4.0 Server running SQL Server 7.0. I am having some trouble
connecting to the SQL server from Windows 2000 PC's.

I have a number of Windows 98 / NT 4.0 computers which connect using a DSN. When
I setup this DSN in Windows 2000 I get an error message which says:

Connection Failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (gethostbyname()
()).
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 11
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]General network error. Check
your documentation.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Dave

Hi,

I recieve the same error message when I try to set up a DSN from our webserver
through the firewall to our MS SQL7 server. I was wondering if you had received
any feedback on this mater and if so could you enlighten me.
Thankfull for any information regarding this problem

/Shaun
