Login failed for user'(null)' not associated....

Hi all,

Maybe one of you can help me out.

I've got 2 SQLservers (7.0) with SP3.
Now id like to connect with one sql server to the othter within enterprise
manager.
I want to use NT authentication.. but i havent got a domain. its not even an
option to implement one.
so when is fill in de domain field the other machine's name (where the field
domain says..)
and in the field name : \\machine_name\username  i get the following error :
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL
Server connection.

When i use SQL authentication .. everything works fine .. :( .. but like i
said .. i cant use that option.
i tried (searched the knowledge base severall times) to disable
multiprotocol .and tried to connect with named pipes
too ..

and btw, i really cant find a check box in the  where i can select " trusted
connection "

if anyone can help me out .. u would make me very happy ! :)

regards,

Elmar Dam.

Hi Elmar,

You can try creating a user id on both the machines with the same name and
the same password and see if it works.

Thanks
Ramu

1. Login failed for user '(null)'

Keep getting this error message when trying to connect a user to my instance
of SQL Server.

Connection Failed:
SQLState: '28000'
SQL Server Error: 18452
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user
'(null)'.  Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Using Windows authentication and trying to created a System DSN for the
connection.  User is setup on the domain and added a login corresponding to
that user.  What am I missing?
