Merge Replication - SNAPSHOT agent fails with sa login

Merge Replication - SNAPSHOT agent fails with sa login

Post by Pau » Sun, 11 Nov 2001 04:48:52

Hi,

Would greatly appreciate a tip on how to troubleshoot this bug
with the signin.

I looked at the properties for the SQL SERVER AGENT and the
user was  domain\sqladmin

In Replication Monitor on the Publishing Server NTSERVER6
Publishers
        NTSERVER6
                Publication1
                Publication2
                ...
                Publicationn

Each of these levels has a RED X Icon to indicate failure.

Snapshot Agent Error Details

        Publisher: NTSERVER6

Last Action: The process could not connect to Publisher NTSERVER6

Full Error Message:  Lgoin failed for user 'sa'

Appreciate some tip on WHERE the sa login is used during this process
or how to resolve this.

Thanks, Paul

Merge Replication - SNAPSHOT agent fails with sa login

The snapshot agent runs at the distributor and it connects to the publisher
to create a snapshot of the publication. If you go to Tools-> Replication
-> Configurin Publishing, subscribers and distribution menu option and then
click on the Publishers tab and then click on the ellipsis button next to
the distribution database that corresponds to your publisher, you will see
an agent connection information. This is the security context used by the
snapshot agent to connect to the publisher. Make sure the login name and
password entered here are correct.

1. Merge Replication : Merge Agent fails with Garbled sp name errors

Merge Agent keeps failing with errors such as
"could not find stored procedure 'sp_helpmargealternatepublisher'"
or "'ARITHEBORT' is not a recogognized option" etc.

On closer inspection the names of the stored procedures etc that it's trying
to call are garbled :

"NUMARIC_ROUNDABORT","sp_MSgetrersion" etc.

Anybody had anything similar ?

Publisher W2K, SQL2000
Subscribers both NT4,SQL2000 recently upgraded from SQL7.0, problem only
occurs on one of the subscribers.
