There is also three messages in the Event viewer that in some way indicate
problems with the Registry settings and
unregistrated DLL files and rpc connection. The problem description in the
eventloggen is in Swedish so i skip to cutn past it here.

I have tried to upgrade the NIC drivers and reinstalling Sp6a. Reinstalling
the entire server. Tried diffrent users. Different harddrives and partions.

I havnt found anything in either MSDN Library or Technet,
Does anyone have any idea what the problem can be??
So i feel this is my last hope.

Thanx
Mike.

NOTIFICATION..

After a new try i found that it was the NIC driver that caused the problem.
For some reason SQL Servern wouldn't install when i had the NIC installed.

I removed the NIC and then installed SQL Server.
And SQL seems to work even after i reinstalled the NIC.

/Mike

1. Can't install SQL 7.0 Desktop edition -- Please help

Any help would be appreciated ...

Every time I try to install the desktop edition from the evaluation copy of
SQL 7.0 it stops responding when connecting to server'.  I've tried numerous
methods from typical. minimum and various customs installations with no
success.

Does the desktop edition work? Or have I been fooled into wasting my time.

I am trying to install it on a 300mhz, 128mb, 6gb HD computer with win98.
The HD is partitioned into 2 with the D drive used for development.   The
software on the computer is Office (sp2), IE 4.0 (sp2), Visual Studio 6.0
Enterprise(sp2), Frontpage 98.  I have not installed DCOM 98.

Has anyone managed to install the Desktop edition?
Does the software already installed create any conflicts that I don't know
about?
Is there an idiots guide anywhere to install the desktop edition anywhere?

Can anyone help?  Or should I just throw the thing in the bin !!!!!!!!!!!!!
