I have a Windows 2000 Server with SQL Server 2000 database
networked in my home. I cannot get the SQL Server Client
Tools installed to my client W2K PC.
I finally got Visual Studio.Net installed. I was getting
an errror related to having a prior installation of SQL
Sever 2000 Clients Tools. My installation must have been
corrupt?.... because VS.NET could not update the MSDE.
The only way I could get VS.NET installed was to manually
uninstalled my SQL Server Client tools, files and registry
references (yuck!) and then reinstall VS.NET without
installing SQL Server Data Engine component.
But I want/need the SQL Server Data Engine component and
the SQL Sever 2000 Clients Tools. My fear is that the SQL
2000 installation uses older MSDE, MDAC and other DLLs
that VS.NET requires.
What would be a suggested approach for clearing my system
and reinstalling SQL Server 2000 Client Tools? Plaese,
