Reading backup tapes

Reading backup tapes

Hi all,

I'm actually trying to restore our database from a backup tape.  When in
the SQL Enterprise Mangager, I have very strange outcomes when I try to
see the contents of the tape dump device.

From one of my tapes, I see all of the contents just fine.

From most of all the other tapes, I get an hourglass for about 1 minute,
then nothing happens and nothing is displayed as far as the contents of
the tape.

When I look at the Server Error log, the following error appears:

read_db_hdr: Read failure on backup device '\\.\TAPE0', returned
operating system error 1008 (An attempt was made to reference a token
that does not exist).

I tried looking up this error on the Knowledge Base for Microsoft (as
well as Technet) and I couldn't find the exact error.  The other errors
indicated that the tape was not in the drive, etc...not what I'm
experiencing.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance,

I'm having a problem just like yours.
When I try to see the tape contents it takes about 1 minute. Then it shows
only some of the databases I have backed up.
I'm using the Database Maintenance Wizard to back up my databases.
Is my data being overwritten?

Thanks
