Problems adding VBSQL.VBX to project.

Post by James Colli » Sat, 23 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Hi, I am looking into using the VBSQL..VBX addin in a VB project.
However, whenever I try to add it to a  VB3 or 16 bit VB4 project, I
get an error message saying that the custom dll can't be loaded.  I am
using the VBSQL.VBX that came with the Backoffice SDK.  Anyone have
any ideas?  Thanks.

Yes,  it is because the W3DBLIB.DLL (runtime DLL for
DB-Library) is not found.

Also, if you are interested in OCX/DB-Library (16 and 32 bit)
call SFI at 819 778-5045 ext:152 and ask about SQL-Sombrero/OCX
for DB-Library.

Thank you for the info.

I have the 32 bit demo already, and am playing around with the sample
files.  Unlike that other guy on CIS, *I* read the readme... :) :) :)
Anyways, as a side note, if I buy the OCX DB-Lib, does that come with
both the OCX's and the VBX's (for VB3)?  Or are they seperate?  I will
most likely be going for the OCX's, since that is the future, but you
never know when you might need to go the VB3 route...  Also, are there
more samples in the purchased version vs. the demo?  Inquiring minds
wanna know... :)  Thanks.

1. Add VBSQL.vbx to project - how?

I am using Windows 95, VB4/16 and MS SQL Server 6.0.  I have installed the Backoffice SDK
to try to check out VBSQL.VBX.  When I try to add the file, like the
documentation says, it won't let me, because it's not one of the choices.  When
I try to add it as a custom control, like the other vbx's, it says "Can't
load (or register) custom control 'C:\SQL60\Bin\vbsql.vbx.'

I hope someone can help me!  Please tell me it's simple and can be done and how
to do it.

TIA

Colleen
