MSDE 2000 taskbar icon lost

Post by Luis C. Urib » Thu, 25 Apr 2002 08:28:08

My old MSDE used to have a handy icon on the taskbar that could be used to
Start/Stop the service.  When I went to MSDE 2000 I lost that icon, is there
a way to recover it?

Also, I have a .adp project in Access connected to my MSDE DB and I can
enter/update data but it will not let me make design changes, it seems like
a permission problem but I can not find a way to resolve that.  I have
Administrator rights.

Thanks for any help,

Luis C. Uribe

Hi Luis,

If I remember right, MSDE 2000 should install a shortcut for the SQL Service Manager in you startup folder.  If
it's not there, just create a shortcut to sqlmangr.exe.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please reply to this posting.

Thanks Brian, I got it working now.
I have another question, if I create a project in MS Access 2000 and connect
to the MSDE 2000 DB I can view and enter data but I can not change the
design of the DB.  I thought with old MSDE this was possible.

I set the permissions to NT security.
Thanks for any help,

Luis C. Uribe

Hi Luis,

It looks like you are a few issues between Access 2000 ADP files and SQL 2000 that are discussed in the
following article:

ACC2000: Issues Between Access 2000 Projects and SQL Server 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q269824

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please reply to this posting.
