subscription to publication is invalid ??

Post by Hung Huyn » Wed, 11 Dec 2002 15:20:13

Hi,

I'm trying to implement Merged Replication on w2k and sql 2k.  Everything
has been cleaned up and setup for merged replication.  Snapshot has been
created successfully with about 72 articles. When it was time to push schema
and data over to the replicated server, it was working for a while, then
suddenly stopped and reported an error saying that "Subscription to
Publication "database-name" is invalid?". I checked the replicated server
for internet connectivity, the connection was fine. The server was still up
and replicated database working properly.

Please advice. Thanks!

HH

Hung,
Please enable detailed logging and capture the complete error message. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312292

Typically you will see a follow-up message like
The remote server is not defined as a subscription server.
(Source: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (Data source); Error number: 14010)

If you are getting the above error then looks like the server name of the
remote server has changed.

the correct machine name.

Raj,

Thanks for your help. I think you provided the right solution. I searched
around after I posted this message and I also found your same response from
this link:

http://dbforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=449552

dropped the servername and re-created it.

Strange thing was that, it didn't work the day before. So, I tried again the
day after and it seemed to work.

Thanks!

1. Merge replication: the subscription to the publication is invalid

Hi,

I'm trying to set-up merge replication between 2 SQL servers
(2000).
From the publisher, I push a new merge-subscription
towards the subscriber. It all works fine (snapshot is
created, schemes are initialized, ...) until I get the message :

'The subscription to the publication is invalid'

I have set the OutVerboseLevel which give me some more info

Category:SQLSERVER
Source:  193.2.100.146
Number:  14010
Message: The remote server is not defined as a subscription server.

I have checked this out in sysservers and the remote server is marked as
defined as  a subscription server...

Any ideas???

Thanks

Richard
