SQL Server2K Personal Ed. Install problem

SQL Server2K Personal Ed. Install problem

Post by Noel » Thu, 30 Aug 2001 04:26:01

I'm trying to install SQL Server2K-Personal Ed. on a laptop running WINNT4.0
Workstation. At the point where setup is insatlling MDAC, the following
error messages come up:

Unable to load SQL Server ODBC Driver resource DLL. THe application cannot
continue.

What seems to be causing the problem and is there a workaround for this
error?

Thanks in advance.

Noel try these.

1. Go to Contorl Panel \ Services and make sure ONLY  the default services
are running.  stop the other services and put them in manual mode, make a
note of these services as you might want to start them back on later. [If
any of the services (applications) which use ODBC are running this might
cause the problem.]
2. Restart your machine, login to the machine with account having
adminstrator privileges.
3. Ensure that the services which you had stopped are not running again.
4. Now try installing the mdac_type.exe and see if you still get the error.

Noel,
Can you list the services that are running on the machine when the
install is going on.
