Run Time Error '-2147467259 (80004005)': [DBNMPNTW] Connection Broken

SQL Server 7 SP 2, NT 4 Enterprise Edition SP5
MDAC 2.1 on Server, workstations have a mix of MDAC 2.1 or 2.5

Some users of our in house developed VB 6 applications have started getting
this error message every day or so. I have not been able to find any
information specific to this. Does anybody have any ideas on what is causing
this or what I should be monitoring to try and track this down? The
application have been running without this error for close to a year.

1. Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)'

I am writing a program involving inserting / retrieving files into / to
access db.
Everything works fine before I start testing on inserting files from 'a
drive'. After I insert a file from 'a drive', my application works fine
also. However, once I remove the disk from the drive, I discovered my
application cannot open a connection to the db anymore and Run-time error
'-2147467259 (80004005)' Invalid argument results. The the db location
inside the connectionstring is the same as before. Please give me any
suggestion. I am urgent to finish this project. Thanks.
