I have a Win2K sp3 SQL Server 2000 sp2 (+ hotfix ms02-061) that has a
problem.  The SQL Server Agent doesn't start and gives me a Service
Control Error:

'An error 1058 -(The specified service is disabled and cannot be
started) occurred while performing this service operation on the
SQLServerAgent service.'

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Toni,

Use Programs - Administrative Tools - Services console. Double-click on the
SQLServerAgent service. Check the Startup Type drop-down menu - I guess
somebody changed it to disabled. Change it to manual or automatic.

Hah!  The service itself wasn't set to Disabled however the profile used
to start it was disabled for some reason.  Thank you!  I have been using
SQL Server for 6 years or so and I learn more and more each day.
