During install, the account you choose to run the SQL
Service and SQL Agent Service under, will be automatically
given the necessary permissions and rights. You should
always change the service account via Enterprise Manager to
ensure that the necessary permissions and rights are assigned
to the service account.

1. SQL Server services changed remotely

I have a user that dials into a computer that has SQL Server 7.0 installed
on it, and he needs to control the services of the production server (It is
not the machine he's dialing into).
The problem we're having is when he starts SQL Service manager he can
control his own machine just fine, but when he connects to the production
server it says he does not have permission.

still does not have permission to do this one simple thing!!!!
Normally it wouldn't be all that bad because the people here in this
building could start and stop services whatever... BUT he's a bit of a
morning person (6 am bleh) and not too many people are around here at that
time.
If I'm going to bed at 6 am that's fine, but waking up that early just isn't
healthy :)

So basically I just need to know what permissions he has to have to be able
to control the services of this machine
Oh and yes he has permissions to the directories for MSSQL 7

Thanks,

Mike
