Visigenics/Other Unix->MSSQL Solutions?

Visigenics/Other Unix->MSSQL Solutions?

Post by Christopher Roula » Thu, 11 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I am working on a solution to integrate Unix clients with an MS SQL 6.0
backend.  It looks like Visigenic will have a solution sometime in the
future, but I wanted to see if anyone else had a solution available NOW.

Does anyone have anything they have done themselves in-house?  Anyone
aware of any other 3rd party vendors that provide similar ODBC driver
solutions for Unix platforms?

Any info appreciated.

Sybase Open Client works just fine with MS-SQL 6.0, and it's available
on almost all Unix platforms.

It includes DB-lib and CT-lib, and is very easy in use.
I checked Visigenic's solution too, and find it not very appropriate.

If your Unix clients use standard HTML FORMs, a standard
browser, they can use an NT based WEBServer and VISIGATE to
access MS SQL Server from anywhere without any programming.
(no C++, no Perl is required).
Try it at:

For any further queries mail to me directly.
