I recently did a migration and did not use the upsizing wizard.
Instead, I exported to an ODBC data source. The reason was I wanted to
manipulate the data on SQL Server first.
Yes, the upsizing tools pretty much work. However, they won't get you
past SQL Server's limitations, such as the 1962 byte limit on a row
size.
The Access front end - Jet - is reputed to be a slow interface to SQL,
mostly because you work with result sets locally that are downloaded
from SQL. With Access 7, I believe, you can use ODBC Direct and bypass
that problem.
