SQL importing from Excel problem

SQL importing from Excel problem

Post by g.. » Mon, 13 Aug 2001 04:59:41

Having no success trying to copy the data from a field in Excel into a
field in SQL Server 2K. Is this possible? How do you import a single
field into a SQL database?

Also I want to retain the datatype (smalldatetime) when making the
conversion.

I was able to use the DTS to import an entire table into SQL, however
the datatype was converted to 'nvarchar' for all of the fields.

The character datatypes will not convert to 'smalldatetime' using the
design view or using the 'cast' and 'convert' functions.

Any help on these issues is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ed
