MSDE 2000 SP1 Service Manager Shortcut Not Installed from Merge Modules

The SP1 Refresh Build merge modules no longer install the Service Manager
shortcut in the Start->Programs->Startup folder.  This happens on both Win2k
and Win98.
The RTM merge modules used to install it.
I looked at both versions of SQLSVR.MSM with Orca and the SP1 version is
missing the Shortcuts table altogether.

Could this be on purpose?  I can't believe something so fundamental would be
overlooked.
Either way, it is a major bummer.

Anyone can shed any light on this?  Any workaround?

MSDE 2000 SP1 Service Manager Shortcut Not Installed from Merge Modules

Hi,

Since MSSQLServer is running as a service of the Win2000 system, you can
configure the service to automatically start in the Service applet in
Control Panel. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services,
MSSQLServer. You can change it to automatically start. You can also start
the service or stop the service.

As for the shortcut, if it is not available in the startup menu, you can
manually create it. You can go to MS SQL Server menu, and copy the Service
Manager shortcut, then paste it in the startup menu.
