Thanks for the response Neil, I appreciate your time. Unfortunately,
after doing as you instructed and rebooting, I still get the same
error when trying to run queries. Any other thoughts???

Try reinstalling MMC

A. On the SQL 7 CD, run x86\other\instmmc.exe
