SQL Server error 1060

SQL Server error 1060

Post by Douglas Schult » Sun, 29 Apr 2001 03:15:10

Hi!

I have installed SQL 7.0 on a Win 2000 server.  When I try and connect to that
server with my NT 4.0 box through ODBC I get SQL Server Error 1060.  This error
deals with not being able to generate a SPPI context.

I have check my Win 2000 server and made sure that Windows NT LM Security Support
Provider Service is running.  However, this did not stop the problem.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?   I am new to SQL Server and have not
got a clue!

Thanks, in advance!

Doug

1. SQL 7 - error 1060

Hello.

I tried to create a "New SQL Server Registration" on an NT 4.0 machine (with
Personal Web Server installed) -- after a few tries, I was finally able to
create one. However, I am still not able to connect to/ or start the
service.  When I try to connect, I am getting this error:

"A Connection could not be established. General Network Error. Check your
Network Documentation"

When I try to start the service, this is what I get:

"An error 1060 - (The specified service does not exist as an installed
service) ... "

I went to the MSDN.MICROSOFT.COM website, and the online 'step-by-step' help
there did not solve this problem.

Thanks, and warmest regards!
