Linking to Sybase

How are you trying to link to Sybase? Are you using ODBC? If so, whose ODBC
drivers for Sybase are you using? If you using the ODBC drivers from Sybase
itself, I have seen some problems with these but only when trying to use
Microsoft software with them. There are other ODBC drivers available for
connecting to Sybase from third party companies but you'll have to pay.

1. Problem linking to Sybase as linked server

Anybody out there with experiece in linking to sybase servers ?

Using SQL Server 2000 we have had linked servers working against Sybase
servers using 'Sybase ASE OLE DB Provider'

Recently this stopped working and was only providing the "no error message"
error.

We have tried re-establishing the connection using Microsoft OLE DB Provider
for ODBC and setting up ODBC links to the Sybase server.

This also fails however we get error messages saying "unable to create
distributed tranasction"

In enterprise manager we are able to see all the tables in teh Sybase
database and if we use teh ODBC connection with MS Access we are able to
open the tables and view the contents.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Stephen Brown
