Until now I've had the luxury of using a domain admin account in my day to
day SQL Server administration duties but I suspect that may be changing.
If this high level of access is taken away, what sort of account, privileges
and group memberships do I need to fully administer SQL Server? Is
Administrator on the SQL box enough? What about remotely administering the
server?

You can create a SQL account or declare any NT account with sysadmin server
role. You will have full access to the entire databases

1. Administer a SQL Server 6.5 DB from SQL Server 7 Enterprise Manager
I was told I could Administer a SQL Server 6.5 DB from SQL Server 7s
Enterprise Manager. The SQL Server 6.5 db is on another machine that I
connect to thru the internet.
When I try all I get is an error - "A connection could not be established.
The server must be upgraded to version 7.0 or later to be administered by
this version of SQL-DMO."
Can't I do this? What gives? Microsoft and a couple of books say I should be
able to.
