Can't connect to SQL Server ERROR!

Post by Glenn Leit » Thu, 03 Aug 2000 04:00:00

I'm using SQL 6.5 for DB backend support to an EDI software package. I use
ARCServeIT to backup and use their Disaster Recovery Module. After
rebuilding a machine from the disaster recovery disks and tape I can't
connect to the SQL Server even though the services are running.

I can go into SQL security manager and can connect as "local" only.

What would cause this error when the services are running?

1. SQL Agent Job Error: Unable to connect to SQL Server '(local)':

NT 4/SP6a    SQL7/SP3

Hi there:

I have configure the SQL Agent to connect to the SQL Server using SQL Auth.
[sa login].  Every now and then, some job fails with the following error:

Unable to connect to SQL Server '(local)'.  The step failed.

It does not happen to the same job all the time.  It is not a consistent
error either.  Other jobs work OK while one errors out.  Any thought?
